Lower School Family Engineering Night a Big Hit

Families had a great time gathered together to work on various STEAM projects. Some children constructed catapults that launched plastic pumpkins or eyeballs. Others worked in the gym, listened to Spookley the Pumpkin and built a pumpkin patch using play dough and shredded paper. The evening was kicked off by our guest speaker, Eve Tice (now a third grader) who created costumes for the classroom pets. Families were then encouraged to make costumes for Stinky our tortoise and our two new baby guinea pigs. In the spirit of creativity and design thinking, many projects were tested and reconfigured until the students got it just right. The event was well-attended by students in PK thru Grade 2, as well as some older siblings that joined us at the pumpkin hammering/Geoboard station.
